Little Lizzie’s would like to wish all our children and families a very
Happy New Year!
As we head into the new term, excited and full of positivity for the year ahead, we’ve also been having a little look back at the festive season and wanted to share with you the wonderful journey that we all went on together during December.
The second half of the autumn term was filled with lots of creative fun, learning new skills, much laughter – and a couple of very exciting reasons to celebrate!
Lots of Glitter, Glue and Grins
Throughout December, we focussed on Yuletide in a new way, with learning and crafts every day that were centred on Winter, Christmas and this time of year around the world.
At the beginning of the month, the children were busy with poster paints, glue sticks and lots of recycled bits and bobs, which they used to make their beautiful decorations for the Little Lizzie’s Christmas Tree that was entered into the St. John’s Christmas tree competition. We also all filled hand-printed gift bags with extra-special decorations for at home, including a special Christmas 2018 bauble for their trees at home.
We wrote letters to Father Christmas and were all very excited to get our replies. During the last week, the children shared their acts of kindness and filled up an extra-special Christmas tree in the playroom with all of their good deeds.
We also learned about Christmas traditions from around the world. All of us have had great fun learning to say ‘Hello’ just how they say it in Lapland – the children’s pronunciation was much better than ours!
At the Saxmundham Christmas Street Fair, we were all very excited to hear the Christmas Tree competition results and were thrilled when we were announced in 3rd place. Thank you to everyone that voted for us – there was a lot of fabulous entries at this year’s Tree Festival. We were so proud of the children for their inventive, personal tree – and we think they were all very happy with their chocolate prize!
In December, we also had our first Ofsted inspection. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to show a normal day at Little Lizzies (although we’re not sure that normal quite covers it!) and were delighted when both of us received ‘Outstanding’ reports. You can read Lorna’s here and David’s here.
Little Lizzies would not be the creative, educational, warm home-based childcare that it is without every single one of the lovely children and supportive parents that we work with. Thank you for being part of the Little Lizzie’s family; it would not be the same without each and every one of you!
Here’s to a Fantastic 2019!
