Qualifications: BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies, Paediatric First Aid, CYPOP5 CACHE Level 3
My name is Lorna, and I am married to David. We have raised four children and now delight in being grandparents to five grandchildren, two of whom live with us. I therefore have a wealth of experience of looking after children during their most important developmental early years. After many years of voluntary work with children, including as a teaching assistant at a local primary school and running a mixed aged Sunday school, I returned to study and gained a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies in 2015. During this time, I had several opportunities to travel and become involved with volunteer teaching at a crèche and nursery class in Ghana, West Africa. Such experiences have not only enhanced my knowledge, understanding and empathy of the individual needs of every child in my care but also allowed me to gain invaluable practice experience. As part of a small team at Little Lizzie’s, I am passionate about working in partnership with parents to provide an environment in which your child’s world is enriched with caring and learning experiences that will foster their all-round well-being and developmental potential.

I have always enjoyed caring and working with children and have over 12 years’ experience of teaching in a secondary school. Alongside this, I have also worked with younger children through running a Sunday school as well as working with them in conjunction with St John Ambulance. My wife and I have also raised four children and regularly look after a combination of our five grandchildren. I have always been able to connect with children and love being part of their explorations as they discover the world around them, as well as discovering and developing their own abilities and interests. Providing young people with the opportunities to develop into fully rounded people who are interested in the world around them is, I believe, one of the most important things that we can do and it is my passion in helping them achieve this.
